Healing the Schism!
Pope Benedict Creates Structure for Traditional Anglicans!
The Vatican has created a structure to receive Anglican Catholics into full communion with the Holy See. This structure is clearly the work of the Holy Spirit and comes as the result of years of dialog between the Traditional Anglican Communion (TAC) and the Holy See. The clergy and faithful of St. Columba's give thanks and praise to God and look forward to the time when we can answer Christ's priestly prayer that we "may be one". Resolution of the Vestry of St. Columba's
Resolution of the Vestry of St. Columba's Anglican Church 25 April 2010 The Feast of St. Mark Evangelist
WHEREAS our Saviour Jesus Christ prayed for the unity of His followers before He went to His Passion as recorded in the gospel of St. John 17:21-22: "That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one", and,
WHEREAS the Synod of the Anglican Church in America, meeting in Portland, Maine, did pass a resolution with the intention of fulfilling Christ's priestly prayer by seeking reunion with the Holy See, and,
WHEREAS the College of Bishops of the Traditional Anglican Communion meeting in session in Portsmouth, England did unanimously sign a petition seeking full corporate union with the Catholic Church and did demonstrate their sincerity of the same by signing a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church upon the altar of our Lord, and,
WHEREAS Pope Benedict XVI responded to that and other petitions from various Anglican communities by creating an Anglican Ordinariate within the Catholic Church thus offering to Anglicans a permanent place within the Universal Church.
WE DO RESOLVE that it is the intention of the Vestry of the parish of Saint Columba's, Lancaster, California, to help end the sad division created more than five hundred years ago by entering in, both corporately and individually, to the Anglican Ordinariate of the Catholic Church as soon as that structure becomes available to us providing that there is no interruption in pastoral care and ministry.
FURTHERMORE we ask the blessing and prayers of our father in God, the Right Reverend Daren K. Williams as we undertake the process which he, and the other bishops of our communion, have set into motion.
HEREUNTO WE HAVE UNANIMOUSLY SET OUR HAND this 25th day of April in the year of our Lord, two thousand ten.
